Dr. Levi Obijiofor

 

Levi Obijiofor is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism and Chair of the Research Committee at the School of Journalism and Communication, the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Levi holds a BSc (First Class Honours) and an MSc, both in Mass Communication, from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He received his PhD degree in Communication and a Master's degree in Business (Communication) both from the Queensland University of Technology. In May 2000, he completed the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education program at the University of Queensland.

Levi was at various times sub-editor, production editor and night editor of The Guardian newspaper in Lagos, Nigeria. Between March 1995 and May 1996, he worked in the Division of Studies and Programming (BPE/BP) at the Paris headquarters of UNESCO where he edited the bulletin FUTURESCO and also coordinated the future-oriented studies program.

He has published in a range of leading peer-reviewed journalism and communication journals. His co-authored book Journalism Across Cultures: An Introduction was published in November 2011 by Palgrave Macmillan (UK). His latest sole authored book is entitled: New Technologies in Developing Societies: From Theory to Practice.

He has taught postgraduate and undergraduate classes across a range of journalism and communication courses and has successfully supervised PhD, Master's and Honours students.
