An infographic is a visual depiction that is used to help clarify information for readers or viewers. News publications use them mostly for the weather, but sometimes use them to display statistics and maps. They are easily made by anyone and are considered a vital tool to generate traffic for many companies, as well as adding to the education of clients.
A proper infographic should display the necessary data without interfering with what it actually means. They also encourage thinking outside the normal scope of the news, breaking things down so it is easy for anyone to understand. Infographics consist of not only visuals, but subject matter and facts as well. Adding all three of these into one easy to understand graphic can drastically improve the understanding of an entire piece.
