Mass Media

Mass media is another way of saying the media. This encompasses the genres of broadcast media, print media, and internet media. Some definitions of mass media include video games and cell phones into the mix, with each and every different type of media being made up of individual content types. Mass media differs from local media by the range of people each one covers.

There are many ways that mass media contributes to society beyond the news. It also is used for the purposes of public service announcements, advocacy, entertainment, and emergency alerts. Journalism is the top profession that contains mass media as a main part of their job, as well as publishing, public relations, and software publishing. Mass media plays an instrumental part in influencing society's opinion on significant issues, as well as molding entire cultures and lives.
