The art of capturing images and scenes using a camera is photography. Photography is commonly used in journalism in order to either add to a written piece or for photojournalism. Audiences respond positively to visual media making photography a fantastic way for publications to sympathize with them on a deeper level.
Outside of journalism, photographers are employed in a wide range of fields including business and science. Photography is often used for recreational purposes as well. Amateur photographers will often times send in their work to news publications just for the opportunity for their work to be featured. This allows news organizations to not only receive great content they would otherwise not normally receive, but to cut costs in photography expenses as well.
