Press Conference/News Conference
A press conference is when journalists gather to interview someone well-known. This is usually takes place in public and is held in order to answer sought out questions or to make necessary announcements. It is common for press conferences to host more than one speaker per session, followed by an interactive question and answer period. This changes depending on the situation and guests. Photo opportunities are press conferences in which no statements or questions happen at all.
Various high profile people hold press conferences including celebrities, sports teams, attorneys, and politicians. Some of the most sought after conferences are held by the President of the United States, who holds them for important situations. It usually is held for crises, where the American public are eager to find out the most updated information they can regarding relevant situations. Journalists tend to go in order during the Presidential press conferences, unlike traditional conferences, to ensure organization.
