Some news organizations, especially those that specialize in news gathering, tend to rally together in order to pool resources together. This conveniently is called a press pool. There are various reasons as to why the media would band together in situations like this. When this happens, it is a much more cost effective procedure for all publications involved. It helps when there are events that are just too large and require multiple outlets to join forces just for coverage. Lastly, if there is not enough space for multiple media companies to be in the same area at the same time, some will pool together in order to share the footage amongst each other. It can be a common practice in the media world and helps all parties involved.
