In journalism, a broadcast station refers to both radio and television stations. They are the organizations that operate the radio and television transmissions, whether it is via cable, satellite, or wireless radio waves. Networks either network or own various stations, or independently owned stations broadcast publically. Some governments regulate and limit the ownership of stations in order to circumvent any monopolies. Stations usually have their own studios that they use to broadcast out of, and some even use them for newscasts or programming.
