Dual Expertise

In today's specialized knowledge based society, journalists are required not only to have journalistic expertise, but also select a professional field of reporting in order to be successful. This means that not only are journalist required to have all the fundamental journalistic skills like knowing how to research, write and edit, but they are also required to specialize in some area or field such as politics, culture, finance or economics. Effective journalistic training should meet both of these requirements.
