Reporters Without Borders (France)

This award-winning organization was founded in Montpellier, France in 1985. The group's primary goals include focusing on Internet Censorship and providing support to journalists working in dangerous areas throughout the world. As an adviser to the United Nations, this group is involved in identifying and combating attempts to censor the news or deny the rights of reporters to report the news. They are also authorized to use a portion of its funding to financially and psychologically support journalists and their families when subjected to persecution in foreign countries, or if they are stationed in dangerous areas for an extended period of time. Reporters Without Borders has support groups in over 150 different countries. The group uses the power of the press to single out entities that are attempting to silence news or reporters through the use of censorship and/or intimidation.
